FalaZay is an iPhone app for Brazilian Portuguese that combines listening, pronunciation, memory and guided conversation. You choose your starting level, interests and practice rhythm, and Zay guides you through a daily habit.
Start from your level
The structured path has beginner, intermediate and advanced material across the A1–C1 level bands. Level and unit selection lets you start where you are rather than from page one.
Understand, then speak
Short dialogues come with English translations on demand and generated speech where available, so you can listen first and check meaning when you need to. The Pronunciation Lab focuses on challenging Brazilian sounds.
With AI features enabled, speaking feedback covers individual words and sounds, so you can work on the parts of Portuguese that feel unfamiliar to an English speaker.
Remember what you learn
Three short games reinforce phrases: Meaning Match connects phrases with meaning, Phrase Builder puts word tiles in order, and Find the Word asks you to recall a missing word with a Portuguese accent keyboard. Rounds are eight cards, with answer feedback, combos and spaced review. There are no heart penalties or forced timers, which keeps practice relaxed.
Daily quests, focused sessions, XP and streaks make it easier to practise a little every day.
Practise a conversation with Bia
Bia is an AI conversation tutor for everyday situations, including family and life in Brazil, so you can rehearse before the real conversation. A translator with audio is also built in. AI features have daily usage allowances, and non-AI practice alternatives are available if you prefer them.
Privacy and choice
Registration is optional before purchase. Before AI processing, FalaZay explains what data goes to Microsoft Azure Speech, Anthropic Claude and OpenAI, and you can decline AI. Lessons require FalaZay Pro either way. Read the privacy policy.
Getting started
The download is free for iPhone (iOS 15.0 or later). Lessons require FalaZay Pro, a weekly or annual auto-renewable subscription.
